Juan Carlos Mortensen, also known as "El Matador," is only one of two players to win both a World Poker Tour (WSOPWPT) title and the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event championship.
One of the game's most consistent performers, his legacy of victory has left many players trying to figure out exactly how to play this fearless foe. Known for his willingness to bluff and call bluffs, it is difficult to put anything past him, making him almost impossible to read at the tables.
Mortensen's victories are the envy of his competitors, claiming the WSOP Main Event title in 2001, a second WSOP bracelet in 2003, and a WSOPWPT title at the Doyle Brunson North American No Limit Hold'em Poker Championship in 2004. Mortensen also finished second in the 2006 WSOP 7 Card Razz event.
